Sometimes it is because of the chemicals in our brain or the events happening in one’s life.
Fifty per cent of LGBTQ+ peopel don’t come out as their true gender or sexuality because they are afraid of any type of abuse, from verbal to physical, from the public, their colleagues and even their families.
Due to that, many LGBTQ+ Australians suffer from a lot of mental health issues including depression and anxiety. But it doesn’t mean that they are all mentally unfit.
They are three times more likely to suffer from a form of poor mental health than those who do not identify as LGBTQ+.
If you know a friend (LGBTQ+ or not) that is having personal problems, be there for them and listen, plus lean.
Encourage them to seek help if it is necessary.
If there’s something you don’t understand then Google is a great source to go to.
If someone is bullying someone for any reason at all, stand up for others and say it’s not okay.
Everyone deals with getting in a better head space differently, and it is important to know what it is to help yourself.
