The 19-year-old will represent Australia for the second time in half a year next month when he travels to Rosario, Argentina, to compete in the world archery youth championships.
With less than two weeks until he flies out for the October 2-8 competition, Everett has ramped up his training regime at Paringa Archery in Trevallyn.
“It’s pretty busy at the moment,” he said.
“I’ve been shooting five days a week, 250 arrows a day and scoring competition rounds every single day so my shooting routine’s very busy.”
Everett has enjoyed a mammoth 24 months, winning a swag of medals at the national youth archery championships in New South Wales last year as well as the Victorian instalment earlier this year.
After flying to Salt Lake City for the World Cup stage 3 in June, he will now look to cap off the year by matching it with some of the world’s best archers aged 21 or under.
The former Riverside High student, who first discovered archery at a grade 7 camp, will be one of only three Australians in a field of nearly 60 in the compound junior men division.
“This will be better for me I think just because it’s on a younger scale and I know everyone I’m (up against).
“Because I know everyone it’s going to be easier to perform better so I won’t be nervous or anything, and we’re all pretty much shooting around the same level so there’s no person going that’s miles ahead or a long way below score wise.
“It’ll all be pretty close I reckon.”
Everett is aiming high in both individual and team competitions, where he has his set his sights on a podium finish.
“I’d like to at least make the top 10 for individual and we’re sending over a really strong junior team, so me and two other people in a team.
“We should be able to go alright.”
Everett has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover travelling costs to the championships.
