The program aims to equip young women with the skills and confidence needed to tackle their future careers, and to broaden their horizons with a better sense of the jobs on offer.
Beacon Tasmania manager Nick Probert said the new program was delivered entirely online, meaning mentors from across Australia could take part.
“It connects a group of up to five students at a time to our structured mentoring program with a business representative somewhere around Australia,” he said.
“A lot of the schools we work with around Australia are geographically remote from the diverse careers that exist, and this brings people into the whole realm of careers that are out there.”
He said the program needs more diverse volunteer mentors from across all industries and sectors to help young women gain confidence.
