In the new digital age, businesses either sink or swim when it comes to using the latest technology to offer their clients the best in service.
Things are no different in the steel fabrication industry.
Kolmarks new workshop has allowed them to expand into areas of design and construct to give their clients the full in house service.
“With the expansion comes a greater opportunity to expand not only our capacity to take on bigger jobs but how we do them,” director of Kolmark, Mark Kolodziej said.
“Our drafting and engineering side of the business will become more and more prevalent as we move on,”
“We are now working with some of our clients on design and construct projects and that will only get busier.”
Shayne Holmes, has been working for Kolmark full time since July as a draftsman, having been previously contracted to undertake specialist work.
“It is giving clients the opportunity to bring us in at a design level,” Shayne said.
“Primarily we use 3D modelling, this then produces an accurate model of what the end product will look like.
“Using that model and the specifications they are turned into 2D drawings and those drawings are then used in the workshop during the fabrication process.
“We can also provide cutting files for the materials to be pre cut before they arrive.”
Clients can see what they are investing in and what the project will look like completed and installed.

With the capacity to take on larger projects now realised, the design and construct arm of Kolmark can realise its full potential.
“Clients love to see how their projects are going to work,” Shayne said.
“Using CAD we can make a 3D model of their new installation, show them how it will work and fit in with their existing infrastructure.
“Clients can see what they are investing in and what the project will look like completed and installed.”
By offering clients a fully in house service, Kolmark have set themselves apart in the stainless steel fabrication business.
“Mark is ahead of the game when it comes to the industry,” Shayne said.
“While it isn’t rare to have a draftsman contracted on larger projects, offering the services in house is.
“It really brings another level to the customer service that Kolmark provides.”
