With over 40 years of experience in business and the steel fabrication industry, Mark Kolodziej has been building on the Kolmark brand for 16 years. 

The purchasing of McLaine’s Stainless in 2010 was an industry coup at the time and from there Mark has brought investment to Westbury, and confidence in Tasmanian made fabrication. Investing in Westbury, was for Mark a no-brainer. 

“We purchased the land in September 2016, we already had some basic plans in place for how we wanted it to look, we then had a pretty speedy experience getting everything council approved,” he said. 

“I’m hoping that our workshop might kick start this industrial precinct in Westbury, it has been stagnant out here for many years, the investment would be great for the area.” 

Mark attributes Kolmark’s reputation to the expertise his team bring to every project.

“We not only have the personnel to suit all tasks and projects, we also have the expertise in the workforce that can train, support and guide our younger personnel,” Mark said. 

“Our company has the benefit of having management and staff that have had many years experience in the engineering and construction industry.”

Operations manager, Tim Freeman, has been with Kolmark for 16 years, Tim has become a solid sounding board for not only Mark but clients and staff alike.  

“My day to day work can vary from programming upcoming projects, making sure projects are on schedule, checking in with workshop managers and ensuring training is up to date,” Tim said. 

“Kolmark has a really good reputation in the industry, part of my job is to uphold that, making sure we adhere to our deadlines and keep clients happy.”

Tim also plays a role in overseeing the apprentices and their training.

“The move is also beneficial for our apprentices, there will be more opportunities for them to learn on the job having everything under one roof,” Tim said.
