Christine Varga’s husband was working on the family’s carport at their home when he heard a rumbling sound followed by a bang.

“As he turned around the eagle was falling backwards and it fell to the ground,” Mrs Varga said.

The female juvenile had been electrocuted.

Mrs Varga called Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, which collected the bird for a post mortem.

Last month TasNetworks revealed at least 13 endangered birds had been killed after coming into contact with its infrastructure. 

Mrs Varga questioned what the solution could be and said she was saddened to see the bird killed.

“There’s two that we can see that are around the Myrtle Bank area,” she said. 

"You often see two of them flying around in circles.

“I was absolutely devastated – it’s such a majestic bird and we don’t have many.”
