On Monday people woke to find cameras and black boxes dotting some of the region’s major roads.
A Department of State Growth spokeswoman said the data collection had ended and the 70 devices had now been removed.
”This information will help to create a picture of travel patterns within the city to inform network modelling and future planning to improve the Launceston road network,” she said.
“The Launceston study is due to be completed by the end of 2017 and will then be considered by the department to inform future network planning.”
Tasmania Police have been informed with five devices stolen during the program.
“Fortunately, some recorded data had been removed before the devices were taken so some information for those locations can be included in the study,” the spokeswoman added.
