The Muscular Dystrophy Tasmania fundraiser was in danger after several sponsors pulled the pin, but non-government funded charity president Michael Peters said the sixth edition would go ahead at Launceston’s UTAS Stadium on Saturday, October 6.
“It’s helped raise some considerable money ($50,000 in the past three years)… but significantly on top of that the event raises awareness of what muscular dystrophy is,” Peters said.
“One of the best things about this game is that people from the public can walk on to the ground after the game and engage in a conversation with blokes that are legends of the game.”
Household names such as Richmond legend Matthew Richardson, Daryn Cresswell, Ben Beams, Russell Robertson and Brodie Holland will line-up for Peter Hudson-coach Tasmanian team, while Victorian/All-Stars will have Michael O’Loughlin, Darryl White, Terry Daniher and Paul Dimattina on its side.
