First cab off the rank will be the qualifying final between Bracknell and Scottsdale at Hillwood, with the winner to take on minor premiers South Launceston next weekend.
Magpies coach Geoff Mohr said that while his group came home with the chocolates last weekend, finals football was a different prospect altogether.
“I think both teams are going to have completely different sides to what we had on the weekend and finals footy is always a different game as well,” Mohr said.
“We might have played each other last week but the pressure goes up and there’s a bit more on the line than there is in a roster game so we’ve got to expect a different game.”
Captain Neil Oliver will make his long-awaited return from suspension for the Magpies, while Daniel Viney and Elliot Tyson will also be added to the squad.
Bracknell is also expecting to make changes to its side from last week.
Redlegs boss Gary Shipton said whichever side settled first would have the best chance of winning what he tipped to be a high-pressure game.
“Last week we were very disappointed with our turnovers, that cost us in the end so we’ll change that up a bit and not have as many passengers,” Shipton said.
“Glenn Dawson and Jacob Gelston will both come back into the side and we’re still finalising a couple of other players as well.”
Reigning premiers ROCHERLEA won crucial mental ascendancy over Hillwood last week with a 53-point win but Suburban Tigers coach Lyndon Stubbs says his side will not be taking anything for granted when the two sides meet again on Sunday.
Rocherlea will welcome back experienced campaigners Daniel Cox and Gavin Provis for the elimination final at Youngtown Oval.
“We’ve got to play our best football,” Stubbs said.
“With every week being a knockout game we need to play our best game every week now and they’re in the same boat so I’m expecting it to be a close game.”
Hillwood coach Jake Lowe said Rocherlea were looking more and more like the team which won the 2016 flag, but was confident his side could lift from last week’s performance.
“We definitely have to play at our absolute best and we’re pretty confident that we can turn things around from what happened last week,” Lowe said.
“We’ll have four maybe five changes that’ll come back in so we’ll have a few bigger bodies and a bit more experience which will definitely help our outfit.”
