UPDATE 5.56pm: The roadway is now open to all vehicle traffic according to Tasmania Police. 

UPDATE 4.45pm: Tasmania Police has advised that the Latrobe hospital roundabout will be closed to traffic as clean-up from an earlier crash takes place.

Police officers are directing traffic at the scene.

UPDATE 3.38pm: 

One lane has been closed on the Bass Highway after a two-car crash at Latrobe. 

Motorists travelling from Devonport are being diverted onto Port Sorell Road towards the airport. 

Tasmania Police is reporting one person is trapped. 

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter has been cancelled.
