Reigning NTFA division 1 premiers Rocherlea will start its title defence with a do-or-die battle with Hillwood on Sunday.

The fourth-versus-fifth elimination final will take place at Youngtown Oval after Saturday’s qualifying final at Hillwood between Bracknell and Scottsdale.

Minor premier South Launceston has week one of the finals series off to plot its path to glory.

In division 2, the winner of Saturday’s second semi-final between Evandale and Lilydale will advance straight through to the grand final in a fortnight’s time, while the loser will book itself a preliminary final date.

Old Scotch must defeat a dangerous East Coast side on Sunday to have any chance of claiming a historic five-consecutive premierships. All division 2 finals are at Invermay Park with both divisional grand finals to be held at Riverside’s Windsor Park.
