The latest incarnation of Australia’s domestic 50-over competition was revealed on Monday with roster matches to be played predominantly in Perth, Brisbane and Sydney.
However, the Tigers’ final fixture, against Queensland, will be played at Bellerive Oval which is then set to host both the elimination and grand final over the following week.
Cricket Tasmania CEO Nick Cummins said the news was in response to lobbying of Cricket Australia for a return of domestic one-day matches to the state.
“We are delighted with the return of the format this season and the prospect of Tasmania playing a home final is very enticing for our local fans,” he said.
The summer will begin on September 27 with a Cricket Australia XI again joining the six state teams.
Tasmania will play its first three fixtures in Western Australia before two in Sydney.
The 116th Sheffield Shield season schedule was also announced and will be launched with a day-night round on October 26.
Adam Griffith’s men have been dealt a tough hand with five of their first six fixtures away from home, beginning at the WACA against Western Australia.
The trade-off will be four straight home fixtures to end the campaign, finishing against Victoria on March 14.
The Shield final will also be played earlier this season, over five days, from March 23-27.
Cricket Australia’s head of operations Peter Roach said: “From the high level of competition in the domestic one-day cup to start the summer, to day-night rounds in the Sheffield Shield, we want our players to have the skills to succeed not just domestically but at the highest level against international opponents.”
