The Twilighters Cricket Club star was the state’s sole representative in the Australian side that toured the UK in July, having won his first national cap late last year.
“We unfortunately got washed out against Wales, but we completed the other 14 matches and won 11 and lost three,” Richardson said.
“I got a few runs and a couple of wickets and played alright but it’s a team game and the team as a group went very well, they’re a great bunch of guys.”
Next on the agenda is the national over-60s championships in November, which will see Tasmania send two teams to Canberra to compete in the division 1 and division 4 competitions.
“It’s quite competitive - especially in division 1 - without in any way playing for sheep stations but everybody really does play the game exactly like they did when they were 20.
“We don’t have the same capabilities as once but it’s played in a serious enough fashion and good spirit all the time.”
Tasmania has been a solid contributor to national sides in the past 18 months, with under-70s players Trevor Stephens and Ken Last also making Australian XIs.
Richardson urged any past cricketers interested in returning to the sport to get out and give it a go.
“If you want to see how far you can push yourself there’s a pathway you can use to go through to that level.
“As the Australian (over-60s) captain said, ‘who wouldn’t want to be us?’.”
