The Newstead Harriers four-decades veteran proved the perfect female ambassador of the new Launceston Marathon next month.
“Over the years, I’ve been involved with running for a long, long time and I recently come back from World Masters game and did pretty well in those,” Gunn, who had medalled, said. “Running’s always been a part of my life.”
A 12-year-old Gunn started as a sprinter working her way from the 100, 200 and 400m on the track first to 800 and 1500m and eventually cross country and park runs.
“I’m not going to run a marathon – that’s a bit far for me,” the 55-year-old smiled.
But fun runners can enter the quarter or half marathons of the Inveresk 10.5km loop.
“I encourage everyone to have a go and set their own goals, whether that be walk/run, jogging or going flat out,” she said. “Just set your own personal goals and run.”
