Four students, two from Launceston Church Grammar School and two from Scotch Oakburn College, tested their skills as 2017 Real Estate Institute of Tasmania Schools Auctioneering Competition.
The competition follows a school-based program, which gives students an idea of the process behind selling a property, delving into auctions, the relevant legislation while giving them practical experience.
Held at Launceston Church Grammar School, the students were all given the same brief – auction off a property in front of a panel of judges and live audience.
Andre Briffa, 18, took out the title and will compete at the Australiasian competition in South Australia in September.
Auctioneering was a “whole new world”, which he was now considering as a potential future career after the program, Mr Briffa said.
