The Magpies have not tasted senior finals since 2011 but they will run out in Saturday’s elimination final against Lilydale at Invermay Park full of optimism.
Their reserves team will also take on Evandale in a do-or-die encounter.
“It’s absolutely fantastic to see the joy on the faces of our life members; the key group of people who continue to support the club through the good times and bad,” Bellinger said.
“We’ve gone from the bottom of the ladder to being able to play finals football in 12 months by everyone buying into a culture that is based around club first, team, and then individuals.”
The Pies have not won a seniors flag since 1990 and have been on the receiving end of many 100-point thrashings in the past.
The club has stuck with third-year head coach Damian Rhind and dividends are starting to pay off.
“Our core values are the basis of that culture: always lifting each other up, never putting each other down, working together and never apart; and remembering where we’ve come from, where we’re headed and how we need to get there,” Bellinger said
“This year we saw an influx of new players both in the seniors and the reserves...our seniors and assistant coaches in both grades, captains and members of our leadership group have led by example all year.”
Perth finished sixth with an 8-8 win-loss record.
