He now has 118 wins for the season, matching the deeds of Neville Webberley in the 1990-91 season.
Yole equaled the record when 50-1 chance Capture Me surprised most punters, yet again, in the Beena Gift Stakes.
The mare has now won five races this season at tote odds of $7.10, $25.50, $98.90, $10.50 and $56.90 – an average price of just under $40.
Yole’s earlier winners were also at good odds..
Jean Mattjesty ($27.10) ran down a star-studded field to win the Fake Idee Discretionary and Another Swinger ($7.10) zoomed straight to the lead from barrier 6 in the Beena Buster Pace and was never headed.
Rohan Hadley, who drove Jeans Mattjesty, also scored on Olivers Mate for his father Max in the Tenirama Pace and drove his own stable’s first-starter Now Hear This to an impressive victory in the Cliff Robins Memorial 2YO.
Todd Rattray took the lead on the state drivers’ premiership with four winners.
He scored on three horses he trains himself, Kvitova Leis, Hayleys Comet and Harshali, and the Ron Mansfield-trained Guesstamate.
He is now two wins clear of brother Gareth whose only winner on the 11-race card was Another Swinger.
Ben Yole looked a good chance to break the record when he had seven of the nine runners in the last race but was thwarted by the fast-finishing Im Barney Rubble, trained by Rohan Hillier.
