About 300 people attended The Clifford Craig Foundation high tea, which also included a boutique market, cake auction and fashion parade on Saturday afternoon.
Foundation events and communications co-ordinator Rebecca Biggelaar said the organisation wanted to raise the profile of medical research in Northern Tasmanian.
She hoped about $8000 would be raised to help pay for medical research grants to attract medicine professionals to Northern Tasmania.
About 10 grants were funded each year, Ms Biggelaar said.
Grants helped encourage doctors and specialists to move to the area and stay to share the skills, while researching issues affecting Northern Tasmanians, she said. “It gives us access to medical professionals.”
