The pedestrian who was hit is in a serious but stable condition.

Tasmania Police said there was an “ongoing investigation” into the matter.

A man is being treated by paramedics after a hit and run at Newnham.

Tasmania Police issued a statement shortly after 4pm saying emergency services were at the scene.

“An adult male was struck by a vehicle shortly after 3.30pm and is being treated by ambulance,” a police statement said. 

“Investigations are continuing regarding this matter.”

The incident occurred at Julie Crescent.
