Australia's most wanted man is a master of disguise.
And police say they have reached a dead end in their search for the man.
Convicted killer Graham Potter has eluded capture for more than seven years, despite public appeals, rewards for his capture and countless public sightings.
He lived at Pipers River in Tasmania for some time, where the community was unaware of his past.
He moved to the area after his release from jail in the mid-90s. He had just served 15 years in a NSW prison for murder.
The 59-year-old has been on the run since he failed to appear at court to face conspiracy to murder changes in Melbourne, on February 1, 2010.
In the years since, there have been several confirmed and unconfirmed sightings across eastern Australia.
The most recent sightings were in Griffith, in southern NSW, in March this year. One sighting was in a shop, and another at a gym.
Police believe he still could be living in Griffith, or at least he was earlier this year.
The last time he was seen by police was in the small Queensland town of Tully, south of Cairns, in 2010. Police pulled him over and he ran from the vehicle.
"He's number one across the nation and we want him," Victoria Police Acting Assistant Commissioner Peter De Santo said, on Thursday.
Mr De Santo said Potter was "a master of disguise", altering his appearance and changing his name to avoid detection.
Sometimes Potter wears gold slipper earrings and a gold chain. He has dyed his hair brown in the past, and has been seen with a ginger beard.
He has used several aliases including Josh Lawson, John Page, Jim Henderson and Peter Adams.
At the time he went on the run, Potter was accused of being hired to kill a man at Melbourne underworld figure Mick Gatto's son's wedding in 2008.
As well as two counts of conspiracy to murder, he was also facing federal charges over a record $440 million ecstasy and cocaine haul in August 2008.
He is dangerous and has connections with Melbourne's criminal underworld.
"He has a significant criminal history, he has significant organised criminal connections, he has priors for murder, he is wanted in relation to conspiracy to traffic large commercial quantities of narcotics," Mr De Santo said.
"We suspect that he is in the community, we suspect he is in the Griffith area.
"He is dangerous. We ask the public not to approach him."
Mr De Santo said between the end of March and beginning of April this year, a person called Crime Stoppers with important information.
He wants that person to call again.
"A call came in verifying information we had," he said.
"We've since tried to investigate and we're at a dead end, we're at a blank, that's why we've come back to the community."
Potter is described as Caucasian, 175 centimetres tall, with a medium to solid build, fair complexion, brown eyes, brown greying hair and a ginger beard.
Anyone who sees him should not approach him, but instead call triple zero.
