An Evandale woman who tragically died after being hit by a car on Monday night will be “deeply missed” in the arts community.
Theressa Roberts, 26, has been remembered as a passionate dancer and performer who “spread joy wherever she went”.
Ms Roberts was a member of Launceston-based youth dance company, Stompin.
Sarah McCormack, a former executive producer with Stompin, said Ms Roberts was a “true collaborator”.
“Theressa was vibrant, caring and interested in other people. Her contribution to Stompin was highly valued and the company was very lucky to have been on this artistic journey with Theressa,” she said.
“Theressa was a bright, vivacious, creative individual who graciously shared her skills and insight with others and will be sadly missed.”
The company’s artistic associate Adam Wheeler shared some of his own memories of Ms Roberts, including her “signature move”.
“I remember so well this little jumpy elbow dance she would do that became her signature move and a major part of our work,” Mr Wheeler said.
“Her energy, enthusiasm, quirkiness and that unforgettable laugh was infectious. When you join Stompin you become part of our family and we have lost a loved and valued member too early. She touched and left a mark with every single person that crossed her path.
“Her life, although cut short, will be celebrated and sadly missed”
Mr Wheeler’s words were echoed by Stompin’s artistic director, Emma Porteus, who described Ms Roberts as “a vibrant and energetic light”.
“I was so very saddened to hear of the sudden passing of one of our Stompin family. Her passion for dance and the arts was totally contagious, and she spread joy where ever she went,” she said.
“Her energy and spirit will be deeply missed and I send my heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and Stompin colleagues.”
Investigations into Ms Roberts’ death are continuing, however Tasmania Police has described it as a “traumtic event”.
Ms Roberts will be farewelled during a funeral service at Punchbowl Christian Centre in Launceston on Tuesday at 11am.
Her family have also extended an invitation to join them afterwards at the Buffalo Lodge in Newstead.
