More than 30 people turned out, despite the high winds and flooding, to see which scarecrow would take out the top gong.
Lionel Knight, 11, won the competition, securing his scarecrow a spot in the garden. Ms Gardenia, made by the St Helens Garden Club, came second. The cub scouts secured third place with their entry – Cubbery.
Neighbourhood House manager Trish O’Duffy said it was wonderful to see the enthusiasm the garden had created. “(It) was an absolute joy to be at the event, everyone who attended was blown away by how much work has been done within such a short period.”
