Last week, Star of the Sea students held a sleep out to raise funds for St Vincent de Paul, a charity which aims to decrease homelessness. 

Organiser Rose Briscoe said students raised about $500 for the charity. 

After some initial fun and games, students were given three pieces of cardboard each and invited to construct a shelter from them in order to sleep in for the evening.

The evening, as well as being a bonding opportunity for the students, opened their eyes to the reality of the homeless around Tasmania.

The event was held as part of the college’s Vinnies conference, which is run by students and works the charity’s George Town conference.
