The Tasmanian boys under-13 and under-14 representative sides will both feature Northern players when the competition gets underway on September 25, with an under-15 squad expected to be announced in coming weeks.
Northern Rangers led the way with four representatives in Braeden Griggs, James Hawes, Aaron Kidmas (under-14) and Harry Preece (under-13), with Westside Devils duo Max Reissig (under-13) and Stefan Tantari (under-14) and Riverside Olympic’s Toby Simeoni (under-13) also receiving call-ups.
NTJSA president Dale Rigby said the championships were a great chance for the country’s best young players to take it up to each other under the watchful eye of talent identification coaches.
“These guys have been part of Football Federation Tasmania’s development programs for the past couple of years and a lot of that is based in the North now,” Rigby said.
“The development that is being done in the North is the same as what’s being done in the South nowadays so that’s giving more opportunities to children in the North to make these squads.
“These guys have worked extremely hard to get to this stage and it’s well-deserved - we’re proud of them all from our association so it’s really good.”
