A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car on Woolmers Lane at Longford.
Tasmania Police said a Kia sedan was travelling east along a rural road when it struck a person about two kilometres from Longford.
There was no lighting on the road and police said the pedestrian was wearing dark clothes.
Emergency service crews were called to the crash about 9pm on Monday.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police closed Woolmers Lane between Panshanger Road and Cracroft Street on Monday night.
Investigations into the crash were ongoing.
Police called on anyone who may have witnessed a person walking on Woolmers Lane about 9pm on Monday to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A report was being prepared for the coroner.

Tasmania Police is currently attending a serious crash involving a pedestrian on Woolmers Lane at Longford.
The road is closed between Panshanger Road and Cracroft Street until further notice.
