Tied on points with the Blues leading into round 17, the Hawks jumped two points clear with the win and sit four games behind unbeaten Arrows.
Aside from the game’s opening minutes which saw Kingston make a bright start, the Hawks always looked in control of the match, consistently finding shooter Ashlea Mawer under the post.
Taking a four point lead into the first break, the Hawks doubled the margin at half time thanks to goal defence Kate von Stieglitz getting the better of her sister and direct opponent Millie.
The deficit was stretched to an unassailable 14 goals at the final break, which the Hawks clung to until the final whistle as Zoe Claridge and captain Ashton Whiley continued to find space on the edge of the circle.
The Hawks take on mid-table Cripps Waratah next weekend in the last round before finals.
Cavaliers collected their second consecutive win with a 57-goal drubbing of bottom-of-the-table OHA at St Helens.
High on confidence from a solid win over Devon last week, Cavs wasted no time in racing out to a 12-goal lead early in the first quarter and had piled on 28 to 6 at the first break.
From there on Cavs never looked back, winning every quarter in convincing fashion to record an 88-31 victory.
Megan Harper was best on court for Cavs while Tessa Cootes impressed in defence with a number of intercepts.
