A standout performance from midfielder Jordan Tepper (three goals) guided the Bulldogs to the 13.11 (89) to 8.8 (56) result, despite the visitors being held to just two points at quarter time.
The Suburban Tigers’ 22-point advantage was soon evaporated with the Dogs kicking 5.5 to 1.1 in the second stanza – grabbing the game by the throat.
The winners outscored Rocherlea by four goals in the second half with Clinton Drake and Will Campbell at their most damaging.
Jordan Cousens was again fourth-placed Rocherlea’s best along with Gavin Provis and Josh Holton. The Tigers have dropped two in a row and are percentage above Hillwood in fourth spot.
LONGFORD became the latest side to overcome a struggling Hillwood, who has lost four out of its past five matches, 8.7 (55) to 5.13 (43).
The Country Tigers were in command for three of the four intervals with Jackson Blair and Sam Graham leading the frontier.
Cody Thorp was Longford’s only multiple goal-kicker and Damon Howe was likewise for the Sharks with two apiece.
An inaccurate Hillwood did not score a goal in the second and third terms with Dan Withers, Nic Bauld and Brad Dikkenberg toiling hard.
DELORAINE let a one-goal half-time buffer slip to Bridgenorth to lose at home by 38 points.
A powerful seven-goal third quarter sealed the 17.10 (112) to 11.8 (74) victory with Brady Demeijer and Rohan Sergeant both finishing with five-goal hauls.
Parrots ruckman Rohan Bones made his presence felt around the ground, while Zach Kilby and Matt Zanetto found plenty of the ball.
The Kangaroos were well served by Oliver Smith (three goals), Bradley Crowden and James Baldock.
Last-placed GEORGE TOWN were no real match for Scottsdale at Blue Gum Park.
The Magpies, who hold up third spot with a 9-4 win-loss ratio, controlled the encounter from start to finish and ended up 12.22 (94) to 4.8 (32) winners.
Scottsdale had 22 more scoring shots than the Saints with Matthew Taylor, Joe Robinson and Lee Nichols converting two each.
Lochlan Young and coach Geoff Mohr were instrumental for the Pies, while Joseph Bodis and Zachary Cooke were named among the bests for George Town.
Saints coach Allan O’Sign was his usual potent self kicking three quarters of his side’s majors.
George Town have now gone nine matches without registering a victory.
Division 2
ST PATS have ended a 15-game winning streak dating back to last year’s semi-final by knocking off ladder-leaders Old Scotch.
The Saints had 12 individual goal-kickers in the 16.8 (104) to 7.17 (59) win which sees them keep pace with fellow top four aspirants East Coast and Lilydale.
Inaccuracy in front of goal cost the Thistles, who trailed by 18 points at three-quarter time despite having two more scoring shots.
The win was iced by a blazing seven-goal-to-two final term, which included two in two minutes from Andrew Scolyer, who finished up with three for the game.
Jacob Murphy and Jordan Beams were the other multiple goal-kickers for the Saints, while George Walker and Paul McKendrick combined for five of Old Scotch’s goals.
The Thistles are now just one game above Evandale with two rounds to go.
Joshua Griggs kicked a lazy 11 goals as LILYDALE demolished Prospect to the tune of 144 points at home.
The Hawks were held scoreless in the first term as the Demons raced to an unassailable 55-point lead, which they extended at every break to finish on 25.24 (174).
Trent Griggs, Bradley Rayner and Wil Lockhart were all solid performers for the Demons, while Louis Venn contributed four goals.
Sam Crack and Jamie Rayner were the Hawks' best performers, while Kaden Marshall was his side’s only multiple goal-kicker.
A big haul from former Launceston forward Brennan Savage helped PERTH collect four points from their first ever trip to Bridport.
Some excellent service from Shaun Etchell, Matthew Crawford, Ethan Brown and Lyndon Hampton helped Savage on his way to a bag of 10 as the Magpies jumped a game clear of seventh-placed Old Launcestonians.
Samuel Tuck and Hamish Lockett (three goals) battled hard for Bridport but the Seagulls never looked in the game after quarter time, eventually going down 23.17 (155) to 9.15 (69).
OLD LAUNCESTONIANS' recent woes continued with a thumping 178-point loss at the hands of East Coast Swans.
The Blues were within 17 points at the first break but were blown away after quarter time, as the Swans kicked 32.22 (214) thanks to eight majors from Nicholas Child and bags of six from Michael Musicka and Jake Sushames.
The win leaves East Coast five percentage points behind third-placed Lilydale, while the Blues are one game and 40 percentage points off a finals-securing sixth spot.
MEANDER VALLEY produced a 20-goal second half to snatch their fourth win of the season.
The Suns kept Uni-Mowbray to 1.5 (11) while kicking 27.13 (175) themselves thanks to superb games from Richard Heazlewood, Brock Young and Ethan Miller.
Adam Scott and Joel Holloway combined for 10 goals for the Suns, while Robert Talbot was the home side’s best player.
EVANDALE sit just one game behind Old Scotch in the wake of a 40-point win over Tamar Cats.
Just 10 goals were kicked for the match as the Country Eagles ran out 8.6 (54) to 2.2 (14) winners.
Sam Bannister was best on ground for Evandale, with Anthony Axton and Liam Bessell also influential.
