Hinds and Burnie’s Tom Mundy on Wednesday missed out on invitations to the national draft combine, but AFL Tasmania talent manager Jy Bond revealed that the two could soon be on their way to the TAC Cup.
Bond has developed an alliance of sorts with that competition, with Glenorchy’s Harrison Gunther to play for the Western Jets this weekend.
The revelation came after just one Tasmanian was invited to October’s National Draft Combine in Tigers forward Hugh Dixon.
“While it is obviously fantastic for Hugh to get invited to the combine, but I always want to have more Tassie kids involved,’’ he said.
“It’s not the end of the world, as just because you miss out on an invite to the combine it doesn’t mean you are going to miss out on getting drafted.”
Bond said he would be “working extremely hard” so the likes of Hinds and Mundy could also get an opportunity in the TAC Cup to “show their stuff” ahead of the state screening later in the year.
