Pollock at the Princess, an art competition featuring local artists, will be launched on Thursday evening at the Grand Chancellor.
Rebecca Howard, from Theatre North, was excited about the opportunity to reach out to more people in the community.
“We've only had minor projects in the past which have engaged the visual art community, and we wanted to do something that furthered that relationship that we have with those people already,” Miss Howard said.
In addition to Princess at the Pollock, Theatre North will also be performing Bakersfield Mist – a true story revolving around a chance discovery of a Pollock painting at a local op-shop.
The play will feature John Wood and Julie Nihill formerly of Blue Heelers. Bakersfield Mist will be performed on September 12 and a cocktail launch will be held on July 27 from 5.30pm at the Grand Chancellor.
