People can be entered under four award categories, Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year (65 years and over), Young Australian of the Year (16-30 years), and Australia’s Local Hero.
National Australia Day Council chief executive officer Chris Kirby said it only took one nomination for someone to be in the running.
“The person you nominate could be the next Australian of the Year, so nominating is a really important and powerful thing to do – you can have a big impact on someone’s life,” Mr Kirby said.
Nomination can be made online at australianoftheyear.org.au until midnight on August 6.
