The rival Kingborough club had kicked the last three goals from seven inside-50 entries to nil in the final term.
Coach Alex Gibbins said his side didn’t pay enough respect to the winless Tigers.
“We were really disappointing and I think they were really good...but we didn’t finish off the game well at all,” he said.
“We lowered our work rate and we were complacent.”
But the turnaround of 2.9 in the second quarter to five straight on either side of half-time proved the difference in the 7.9 (51) to 5.1 (31) victory.
“We were just far more efficient moving forward then,” Gibbins said. “That was still a very tight battle and it was a hotly contested game.”
The Blues had 16 shots on goal to six, but both sides went forward 17 times and Launceston won the centre clearances 7-6 despite ruck Abbey Green’s starring game.
