Brett Smith’s charges were just 16 points behind at the main change before the hosts booted eight second-half majors to three in winning 16.13 (109) to 9.7 (61) and consolidating second position.
Tyler Heron and Jade Child finished with three goals each for the Dogs, who had eight individual goal-kickers.
Dominic Shegog and Matthew Farr slotted two apiece for the visitors, while Oliver Proudfoot and Nathan Green both contributed solidly for eighth-placed Deloraine in its 10th loss of the season.
BRIDGENORTH recorded its third win with a come-from-behind display against George Town at Parrot Park.
The Saints started the match on fire with eight goals and five behinds to one solitary point for the Parrots in the opening term.
George Town failed to score in the second stanza with Bridgenorth trailing by 31 points at half time and 38 points with 30 minutes to play. However, the Saints stopped still and were overrun, just, 13.10 (88) to 13.7 (85).
Rohan Sergeant (four), Jacob Bonney and Aaron Dusautoy (two each) were dangerous, while Brady Demeijer was judged best on ground in front of teammate Joel Clements.
Saints coach Allan O’Sign added four majors to his season tally with Sam Cooke and Jack Hulse sensational in defeat.
SCOTTSDALE held off a resurgent Longford at home – winning 12.8 (80) to 11.7 (73).
Nine goals to five in the final two quarters almost got the Country Tigers over the line after trying to gain the lead all match.
The Magpies led 7.3 (45) to 2.5 (17) at half time with ruckman Daniel Roozendaal, Bryton Mullins and Nathaniel Barnett controlling play as joint-competition leading goal-kicker Lee Nichols (four) and Joseph Krushka (three) presented well.

Top-of-the-table BRACKNELL host reigning premiers Rocherlea in a grand final rematch on Sunday.
The Redlegs will have the services of 2008 Hawthorn premiership player and inaugural Gold Coast Sun Campbell Brown for the highly anticipated bout.
DIVISION 2
FOUR-TIME defending premiers Old Scotch have not looked like being beaten all season, but last year’s runners up Lilydale gave them a serious run for their money at NTCA Ground on Saturday.
Scores were all square at three-quarter time, however, a gritty Thistles side managed to outscore the Demons three goals to two to win 8.8 (56) to 7.8 (50).
Michael Murfett ended up with four majors to his name as Connor Dixon and Josh Harris were named Scotch’s best, while Billy Tuckerman (three), coach Thane Bardenhagen (two) and Andrew McLean gave third-placed Lilydale hope.
The Demons are now two wins behind Evandale and 16 points off Old Scotch.
EAST COAST won its encounter with St Pats at Pyengana 15.15 (105) to 10.17 (77), thanks largely to a seven-goal show from Nicholas Child.
Dakota Bannister, Lewis Ritchie and Jack Ruston controlled the Swans’ engine room as Saints Jono Lawrence and Jacob Knight tried to stem the flow.
Kyle Lanham, coach Alex Russell and Knight slotted two each for the visitors, who are now equal on points with the Swans and Lilydale.
EVANDALE showed no mercy in tearing Old Launcestonians apart at Invermay Park.
The Country Eagles led by 78 points at half time and kept the Blues to just four behinds for the match as they piled on 21.14 to win by 136 points. Damien Wrankmore (five), Tom Chugg (four) and Jason Bennett (three) were the chief destroyers up front, while Sam Bannister and Liam Bessell were outstanding.
The victory has almost certainly secured Evandale second spot and put Old Launcestonains’ finals ambitions in doubt.
BRIDPORT brushed Uni-Mowbary aside 20.9 (129) to 17.7 (109) for win number four.
Dominic Hawksley and Aaron Barron were instrumental for the Seagulls with Cale Burke leading the goal-kickers with a bag of four. The hosts stormed out of the blocks early and held on despite a late challenge from the Suburban Eagles driven by Hayden Chrzanowski, Jakob Crowden (four goals each) and Tom Hartley.
PERTH overawed Tamar Cats by 56 points to snap a four-game losing streak.
Eight goals from Steven Hill went a long way to locking in the 23.8 (146) to 13.12 (90) all-important triumph with Ethan Brown, Jordan Furley and Brayden Pitcher showing their prowess.
For the Cats, Bryan Tasker converted four majors and Jacob Parker was touted their best performer.
MEANDER VALLEY were 89-points better than Prospect at Prospect Park.
The Suns had 29 more scoring shots with Adam Scott sinking six goals and Richard Heazlewood winning plenty of the ball in the 18.21 (129) to 6.4 (40) result.
Michael Hazelman and Christopher Carl were the Hawks’ most productive as Conniey Riley, Jamie Rayner and Kaden Marshall evenly spilt their goals.
