After a one-point win over their cross-town rivals the Cavaliers last Friday, the Northern Hawks are looking for a much larger winning margin over bottom-ranked opposition OHA this week.

While the Hawks will play for a second week without key starting goal attack Danni Pickett, recovering from an Achilles tendon injury, head coach Ruth Tuohy said the focus remains on always being prepared.
“Our focus this weekend remains on playing a complete consistent game which includes minimising our errors,” she said.
“With three rounds to go before finals we must continue to challenge and push ourselves to ensure we are ready to take on the final series.”
The Hawks were down by seven going into the final term against the Cavaliers last week but clawed their way back to a 46-45 win.
Ranked third on the ladder, the Hawks head to Hobart planning for another win over OHA on Saturday.
Meanwhile sixth-ranked Cavaliers will hope to bounce back from their narrow loss to the Hawks by hosting eighth-ranked Devon at the Silverdome.
After being up by 11 goals at one stage in last week’s game, the Cavaliers were dealt a tough blow losing to the Hawks by such a small margin.
Cavaliers coach Dannie Carstens said her team should have won the game.
“You certainly learn more from your losses than your wins and last week is no exception,” she said.
“It is one that we should have won, we were in full control and mistakes under fatigue cost us the game.”
Carstens said going in against Devon the Cavaliers will focus on the same gameplay that gave them such an advantage for most of last week’s game – controlling Devon’s attack with full-court defensive pressure.
The match will be the last for Estelle Margetts, moving to Canberra to pursue her studies in occupational therapy.
“Estelle is one of our 100-game athletes, her athleticism and determination at training and on game day is fantastic,” Carstens said.
With three rounds to go before finals we must continue to challenge and push ourselves to ensure we are ready to take on the final series.
