The Tasmanian government allocated an additional $600,000 in the 2017-18 state budget for the Safe Farming Tasmania Program over the next four years.
Through practical advice and guidance, the Safe Farming Tasmania Program is steadily changing on-farm safety culture. The program is driven by education and practical advice and encourages increased health, safety and wellbeing awareness and health and safety behavioural change within our rural sector.
By providing practical advice, information and support tailored to suit the needs of each individual business, the Safe Farming Tasmania Program has become a respected and trusted source of work health and safety information. I lead the program as a senior work, health and safety consultant.
I grew up in the rural community of South Riana, so I really understand the difficulties farmers face with the day-to-day running of their businesses.
My health and safety experience covers many years as both a senior inspector, advisor and, more recently, manager of WorkSafe’s health and safety advisory service.
I now specialise in providing practical advice and guidance specifically to the rural sector and, over many years, I have established very strong ties with rural stakeholder groups.
I'm very lucky to be able to share my experience with farmers to try and demystify and simplify managing safety and in general make our farms safer.
The Safe Farming Tasmania Program is a joint initiative between the Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment department and WorkSafe Tasmania and can help you to reduce injuries and accidents and the associated disruptions, downtime and costs, resulting in increased productivity, safer workers and farms, and peace of mind.
I will come to your farm and help you develop a simple and basic safety management system and, if you already have documentation in place, I can have a look at it and make suggestions on how to improve and maybe even simplify what you have.
The Safe Farming Tasmania Program is free and all you need do to organise a visit is give me a call on 0407 015 400.
