A 21-year-old Perth man has been hospitalised after a two-vehicle crash on the Bass Highway.
The man, who was the sole occupant of the Holden Rodeo utility which collided with a Hyundai Elantra, is now in a stable condition at Launceston General Hospital.
The Hyundai Elantra was carrying three passengers.
The Bass Highway is now open.
UPDATE 7.45PM
A person is in a critical condition following a crash near Latrobe on Wednesday.
The crash happened on the Bass Highway near the roundabout about 5pm.
Police had earlier reported no serious injuries, but an update about 7pm said one person was critically injured.
The crash involved a gold Hyundai Elantra and a red Holden Rodeo utility.
Investigations are continuing into the crash. The scene is expected to remain closed for some time.
Heavy vehicles are being diverted via Frankford road.

Police and emergency services are attending a multiple vehicle crash on the Bass Highway at Latrobe.
A Tasmania Police spokesperson said no serious injuries had been reported as a result of the incident, which occurred just past Latrobe’s main roundabout on Wednesday afternoon.
Heavy vehicles have been asked to travel via Frankford Road until the scene is cleared.
All motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
