City of Launceston general manager Robert Dobrzynski confirmed the council had held “initial discussions” with some retailers at Kings Meadows “about potential future beautification projects”.
"This may include a handful of street trees, new rubbish bins or other improved amenities — discussions are only in their infancy,” he said.
"There are no proposals to establish an avenue of trees, or to impede traffic flow.”
The City of Launceston recently awarded a $4.4 million tender to develop Civic Square as part of Launceston’s City Heart project.
Mr Dobrzynski said the council would continue its planning with businesses and stakeholders to “enhance the Kings Meadows retail precinct” and other areas.
“We'll undertake community consultation on potential beautification works once proposals are further advanced,” he said.
