School principal Alison Brooks said the choir was very excited to have been invited to perform, with 45 boys and girls from grades three to six joining in.
“When we were first invited to perform we were not sure that it would be possible as it meant a trip to Hobart, overnight accommodation and meals,” Ms Brooks said.
However, a dedicated effort by the school’s student leadership team, led by Amy Sims, pitched in to fundraise more than $2000 toward the coast.
Together with donations from the Exeter Parents and Friends Committee, the Exeter Community Group and a school volunteer, the trip was made possible.
“Mrs Christine Alcock is our dedicated choir master and is well known in the local area, and within the community of music teachers for her expertise in this area and her ability to produce an amazing children’s choir,” Ms Brooks said.
The school’s choir is active in local competitions including Singfest, and performs yearly at the Exeter Anzac Service.
This is a great honour for our school.
