Glenlusk Road at Glenlusk is subject to heavy black ice coverage, with police advising motorists to avoid using the road if possible.
Black ice can occur when the temperature rises above freezing, or if the sun melts snow on the ground causing road surfaces to become wet.
It is extremely difficult to see black ice as it is transparent.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a road weather alert for parts of North, North East, North West Coast, Central North Central Plateau, Midlands, East Coast, Upper Derwent Valley and South East forecast districts on Tuesday morning.
