On Sunday, Ms Haddad revealed she will run in the Denison electorate in the state’s south.
She currently works in the Department of Health and Human Services and said more needed to be done when it came to preventative health measures in the state.
“It’s the old adage – prevention is better than cure,” Ms Haddad said.
“What we know is that we have a massive burden of preventable disease in Tasmania, and a lot more can be done to treat illness before it gets to the stage that needs acute treatment.”
Ms Haddad has previously held positions on the boards of TasCOSS, Women’s Health Tasmania and the Tasmanian Council for AIDS, Hepatitis and Related Diseases.
“When I was on community sector boards, and working in the alcohol and drug sector, I learned first-hand just how important it is that community services are well funded, available and accessible to Tasmanians who need them,” she said.
