Baptist easily accounted for Smithton at Circular Head opening the scoring at the five-minute mark.
Five Baptists peppered the scoring headed by young guns Jake and Tyler Wolfe and Thomas Wylie.
Smithton spokesman Nick Stokes said the team’s style and structure was back in balance after last week’s effort.
Baptist was hungrier for the ball and a couple of questionable goals deflated Smithton 5-0.
City Marians held a handy three-to-one lead at the start of the fourth quarter facing South Burnie and should have been the winners with just seventeen to play.
The Hawks had it all to do in a fast-paced game that had them on the back foot as the Bloods led the way.
The Hawks’ Jeremy Cordwell started the comeback with a deflection putting them within reach. Jordan Dart converted a penalty corner to level the card, adding urgency to the game.
Just seven minutes remained when the ball fell to Jordan Dart who’s solo run scored the match winner for the Hawks putting them in front 4-3.
Tamar Churinga got out of the blocks early against Launceston City just seven minutes into the game when Justin Ockerby posted his first of three.
Tamar kept a defensive stance on the game against a strong City press.
Late in the half Ockerby struck again, sending Tamar to the break with a handy lead.
City captain Jeremy Stebbings’ work rate was superb as he tried to get them back on level footing, with success just eight minutes in, slotting his first of three for the match, levelling the table minutes later.
The game tempo increased with Ockerby again the difference as he posted his third.
Stebbings got loose across the Tamar circle but was thwarted with a foul tackle, resulting in a penalty stroke that he converted to level the game 3-all, a fitting finish to a fast-paced, attacking game.
Devonport played West Devonport with the Subbies posting a strong result at game’s end.
West coach Fred Bessell was happy as his team held their more fancied rivals to just two goals in the first half.
The Subbies applied more pressure in the second half to add five more, running out easy winners 7-0.
Ladder leaders Queechy outplayed the Suns with a 7-1 victory.
The Suns opened the scoring in the first ten from the stick of Harrison Banks as they showed plenty of fight against the Q’s onslaught.
The Qs opened the door five minutes later with the first of three corner conversions for Daniel Chong, Josh Commins and Finn Bailey.
