More than 70 Exeter District High School students planted more than 200 native trees in a bid to save wildlife and fence off a waterway earlier this month.

The school’s agricultural teacher, Liam Fox, said the children had a really good day.
“A lot of kids hadn’t done anything like that before. They learnt how to put the trees in, how to put the protective covers on and at the right angle so they’re protected from the wind,” Mr Fox said.
“They learnt about why we were doing it, which is to make wildlife corridors and holding up the structure of the water way.”
Mr Fox said the trees will stick around for quite a long time. The project was part of the government’s 20 Million Trees Project.
