Uniting Church in peril
I DON’T know why it takes a Traditional Anglican to write this, but the Uniting Church is in peril. I was a happy methodist, but fled when the Uniting Church was formed, as I felt it had little doctrine and most of what I loved in Methodism would be lost.

These are some of the facts based on those given in the excellent Christian Journal Eternity, they are for the period 1991-2013, but things have probably got worse since then. Church attendance is down 40 per cent, only 6 per cent of active ministers are aged under 40; 25 per cent of congregations have no children in them and 82 per cent of congregations have less than 10 children attending. Four alternatives were given in the article, one is obviously happening in Launceston. A small number of large parishes on the spiritual side and the church concentrating on its welfare arm. The other alternatives are to wind it up and disperse the assets, become a secular welfare agency or re-invent itself, the latter would seem impossible to me. It’s all part of the secularisation of society.

Street changes
I HAVE been reading with interest on the proposal to change traffic directions. The streets are named, and where you can not turn into anymore, or a single lane for traffic. It is very hard to put all the changes in my mind and try and remember them all.
I don't want to be in the city centre and make a wrong turn, but for the life of me I can not put or keep the images in my head. Why don't they put a map of the changes in the paper for people to actually see the changes that are happening, it would be easier to be able to have a visual picture of the changes that will occur. A picture is worth more than a headache or accident that may happen in the streets.

West Tamar spoilt
I DON’T mind some advertisements on the television, but the one advertising our beautiful West Tamar region with drums belting out as a background is beyond comprehension. It is very annoying, I'm glad I have a remote control with a mute button.
