Litter on roadside
I ENDORSE the comments made by P. Lloyd (June 20) about the amount of litter beside the road from Lilydale and Scottsdale to Derby.

Sadly the litter continues past Derby to Weldborough and beyond, through the beautiful rainforest. Litter has always been a problem but I believe that it has got exponentially worse in recent times.
For example the first off ramp to Westbury, from the Bass Highway heading west, is a disgusting mess of drink containers and fast food wrappers; and is getting worse by the day.

Millennials rule
I JUST saw an American TV commercial about a radical new idea that could change our lives. A very serious, stubbly bearded, trim, trendy, young dude explains his solution to the most serious problem in the world. He has designed a shirt, that you can only buy from him, that looks good untucked. After all, in this new age run by millennials we must keep our priorities in order.

Toll Transport
ROBIN McKendrick is the only alderman I believe left on the council who would recall that the slip road from Dowling Street was put in to alleviate industrial and other traffic off Elphin Road and Brisbane Street.
This writer travelled it on June 19 and the council at the time has achieved its objective.
Traffic flows into Henry Street past former Gas Works over Tamar to Esplanade past Customs House connects to Charles Street Bridge, then on to the Northern Outlet. The only infringement for residential residents is four terrace houses in Boland Street who were subject to the previous development.
Launceston Concerned Citizens and the pensioners champion who is well known to the council do not have a valid case to stop this development by Toll Transport and have ignored that a major part of cargo will be moved by rail, thus reducing carcinogenic properties from reduction in truck movements. This development should proceed.
