“Merging with a practice in the north west that has the same strong commitment to high standards and to continuing professional development makes this a really exciting new era for us,” Physiotas director, Lia Giovanovits said

“We wanted to develop a new brand together which represented our commitment to physiotherapy and exercise physiology in Tasmania – that’s why we’ve called it Physiotas.
“We may be changing our name but we still have the same fantastic team of experienced and highly qualified staff, including previous directors Sally McLaine and Margaret Archer, and we are continuing to operate at the same location here in Launceston at Howick St.”
The combined venture means Physiotas can provide services across the whole of the north and north west and strengthen its affiliation with a number of organisations including the Tasmanian Institute of Sport, Basketball Tasmania, Swimming Tasmania, AFL Tasmania, Football Federation Tasmania and Australian University Rugby Sevens (UTAS).

“On top of our commitment to muscle, joint, spinal and sports physiotherapy, Physiotas offers other specialised services that perhaps people don’t think of when they think of a physiotherapy practice,” Physiotas director, Joseph McCormack said.
“For example, we offer Clinical Pilates for individuals and groups; headache relief, treatment for vertigo and dizziness; exercise programs for chronic conditions including diabetes, osteoarthritis and osteoporosis; performance enhancement and screenings for athletes and much more.
“People often think they only need us when they are injured but there is great benefit in staying healthy, keeping active, improving strength and flexibility and preventing injuries before they happen.”
Although Physiotas is now the largest practice in the state there is still a strong commitment to individualised treatment and care.
“Having such a diverse and experienced team means that we can bring a collaborative approach where needed to the rehabilitation of patient’s complex injuries or problems,” he said.
