A podium position is the target for a strong Tasmanian team about to contest the under-19 road cycling national championships in Geelong.

State coach Matthew Gilmore has taken a team of five Launceston men – Zac Johnson, Josh Duffy, Zack Gilmore, Sean Hughes-Roberts and Robbie Parker – plus Hobart’s Madeleine Fasnacht and North-West Coasters Anya Louw, Renee Dykstra and Amalia Langham.

“Maddie has been quite dominant through the Oceania Games and Mersey Valley Tour so I hope she can replicate that form and hopefully achieve a podium in the time trial or road race,” Gilmore said. “But it is the hardest under-19 nationals course I’ve seen in years.”
