Here is a quick look at some of the gigs happening around the state this weekend. Plus, we preview some dates to pop in your calendar for the coming weeks.

It’s all on down south this weekend, as the MONA’s DARK MOFO enters its second weekend. While many of the ticketed events have sold out, there’s still plenty to be soaked up – like the Winter Feast, Dark Park, installations, and exhibitions. Wrap your mind around the enormity that is Dark Mofo at darkmofo.net.au

Staying in the capital, jazz and blues are on the menu at The Homestead on Saturday. Hobart group MANGUS & CO will be showing off material from their recently released LP Go Home, Go Inside, and Shut The Door. Catch the band, with supports, from 9pm. Entry is free.

Looking ahead, Fresh Comedy’s June edition will light up Launceston’s Royal Oak next weekend. BECKY LUCAS is your headliner this month, and she’s supported by a strong contingent of Tassie talent in Emergency Poncho, Tracey Cosgrove, and Chloe Black. The LOLs kick off from 8.30pm on Friday. Tickets are available through Trybooking.com, from $15. Door sales, if available, are $20.

Hunters & Collectors’ frontman MARK SEYMOUR is in Hobart this month for a special show at the Theatre Royal. Joined by The Undertow, Seymour is celebrating 30 years of songwriting with the Roll Back The Stone tour. The show is on Saturday, June 24, from 8pm. Tickets start at $61.50, available through Theatreroyal.com.au

And for something completely different, DUNE RATS are in the state off the back of a European tour. The band will play Hobart’s Brisbane Hotel on June 24. Many of their shows around the country have already sold out – grab a ticket through Oztix.

The Launceston Jazz Club will bring some midweek entertainment to town when it hosts a show from THE BOOTE-LEGGERS later this month. The Tuesday night gig includes a dinner invite, and entertainment from up-and-coming musos in St Kevin’s College Big Band. It all takes place at the Royal Oak Hotel, on June 27, from 6.30pm for dinner, and 8pm for the show. It’s $10 for club members, $15 for non-members – visit Facebook.com/LauncestonJazzClub for more information.
