The girls took down their Southern Tasmanian Junior Football League opponents 3.13 (31) to 1.4 (10) at North Hobart Oval, while the boys lost 12.7 (79) to 6.6 (42).
The boys, coached by Daryl Griffiths, were eight points down at three quarter time but only conjured 1.2 to the South’s 6.1 in the final term.
Deloraine’s Tristian Webb was named North’s best player, while the girls honour was taken out by George Town’s Briana Hinkley
Simon Ockerby’s girls kept their rivals scoreless in the opening stanza and had 11 more scoring shots to win comfortably.
NTJFA competition manager Emma Anderson said it was a great experience for all players involved.
“It’s always good to give the kids an opportunity to play at a representitive level,” she said. “This is the sixth year for the boys and second for the girls.”
