He was two wins short going into Sunday night’s meeting in Hobart and it took him just four drives to reach the milestone.
Duggan had a double on the board early in the night after wins on Cheshire Cat for trainer Pat Bishop and I Am Camelot for Deb Williams.
He is now within sight of the Tasmanian record of 1575 wins held by Barrie Rattray.
Duggan, 47, began driving in 1987 and has won the state reinsmen’s premiership four times – in 1998, 2003, 2004 and 2005.
He has represented Tasmania in national events on six occasions.
Duggan has also built a reputation as big-race specialist.
He has won Launceston’s premier race, the Easter Cup, three times and the Devonport Cup five times.
He has also won 24 Sires Stake finals including seven Dandy Patch Stakes.
