Overseen by creative director Christopher Horne, the parades showcase Australian merino wool garments from Tasmanian and mainland retailers in the Wool Arena at 11am and 2.30pm.
Australian Wool Innovation assisted Mr Horne in sourcing the garments, including sending a complete wardrobe to feature in the parades.
“Campbell Town Show is the first [location] for the AWI collection to be shown in the country,” Mr Horne said.
The parades have become well known for showcasing modern wool fashions by local and international designers, he said.
“Jan Dineen knits amazing clothes. She’s doing the finale for a bridal party,” Mr Horne said.
Other retailers to be featured in the parades include Kachoo, Sharee Marshall, Ross Wool Centre and Little Peeps Fleece.
“Sharee Marshall had a good representation of wool in up-to-the-minute clothes and a vintage collection from the late ‘80s and ‘90s from the Elders Wool Awards,” Mr Horne said.
“It’s always quite a big thing as far as the fashion parade is concerned at Campbell Town Show.
“There’s always lots of things to pull together, but what we see now is Australian and local garments,” he said.
Mr Horne has been involved with the show’s fashion parade for the past 18 years and has seen the industry develop over that time.
“The colours are true. Wool really holds true colours, like yellow,” he said.
Billed as the Southern Hemisphere’s longest continually-running agricultural show, and listed by National Trust in Tasmania’s living history, the show celebrates rural work and lifestyle.
Campbell Town Show is on Friday and Saturday at the showgrounds between 7.20am and 5pm.
Entry is $10 for adults and $5 children.
