The ruckman from George Town was traded to the Tigers from the Sydney Swans in the off-season and has established himself as one of the top ruckmen in the competition.
He shined brightly on Saturday night in front of 85,656 at the MCG when he booted the sealer for the Tigers in a thrilling ‘Dreamtime at the G’ clash against Essendon.
With the Tigers under pressure and leading by nine points with just under two minutes left to play, Nankervis received the ball from Shane Edwards at the top of the 50m arc and kicked truly off his left foot to put Richmond up by 15 points and sealed the win over the Bombers.
The big man finished the game with the game winning goal, 13 disposals, two marks, 22 hit outs and one tackle.
Jack Riewoldt had an impact late as well with the Clarence forward booting a goal from just inside the 50 to put the Tigers up by a goal.
He finished the game with 14 disposals, eight marks, three tackles and booted 2.3 for in the clash.
Launceston’s Tom Bellchambers battled against Nankervis all night in the ruck for the Bombers and had nine disposals, two marks and an impressive 40 hit outs.
Josh Green kicked a goal for Essendon on a quiet night for the small forward with seven disposals and four tackles.
Hobart’s Aaron Hall starred for the Gold Coast Suns in their 35 point loss to Melbourne on Saturday with 29 disposals, seven marks and three tackles.
He also booted 1.1 in another impressive display for the midfielder while Launceston’s Kade Kolodjashnij also impressed for the Suns with 18 disposals six marks, one tackles and a goal.
Jake Kolodjashnij had 14 disposals in Geelong’s Thursday night thrilling win over Port Adelaide to go along with four tackles and four marks.
Burnie’s Maverick Weller continued his form for St Kilda in their 40-point loss to Western Bulldogs and had 15 disposals, four marks, three tackles and kicked 1.1.
Lachie Weller also starred for Fremantle in their loss to Adelaide with 30 disposals, four marks, one tackle and two goals.
Fellow Burnie product Brady Grey had 12 disposals and five tackles while Hobart’s Hugh Greenwood had 11 disposals, one mark and six tackles.
Dodges Ferry’s Jeremy How continued his form down back for Collingwood in their 45 point win over Brisbane on Sunday with 17 disposals and seven marks.
Devonport’s Ben Brown had a quieter game when compared to his output in recent weeks for North Melbourne.
But the forward target did get on the score sheet in the Kangaroos thrilling win over Carlton.
Brown finished the game with 10 disposals, four marks and booted 1.1 as the Kangaroos regained control in the final term following a mighty Blues comeback.
Launceston’s Tim Mohr was also in action over the weekend and played his first game since round 9 last year and had nine disposals, four marks and one tackle in the Giants win over West Coast.
